I've been trying to work out what to do next...
Originally I was thinking of finishing off my MSc project and then
heading to Aus on a Working Holiday Visa. Unfortunately, it seems that
the economic collapse has reached Aus too, and I'm not going to get
the project done for the April submission date - though I still have
until December to complete the project (at the latest).
So, I think I'll head back to the UK in the next couple of weeks and
hang around Cornwall for a bit while I work on my MSc project, and
some other personal projects. I'll probably head to Oxford first, to
see people and sort out the stuff I have in storage.
I may or may not be in the UK for the long term - now I'm used to
travel, and developing countries, I think will be very easy to get
back on the road.

I'm actually feeling quite good about coming back. I want to get on with establishing a new "long term" life(style) and that's hard to do while travelling. Working in Australia was a tempting option, partly because I would have liked to have come back to the UK having worked out my new life-style, rather than in-between, but the economy makes that a much riskier proposition now. Hopefully I'll be able to replenish my savings in the UK.
Also, flights are even cheaper nowadays and I'm sufficiently used to travel that I feel I could easily just pop back here (or elsewhere) without the massive amounts of planning and prep.
Plus I've met a load of people from places in Europe that I haven't seen yet, which I now want to visit.
